Request data deletion
Last updated: 9 June 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of data associated with SlabShot
(Android package io.slabshot.catchlog). It covers what lives on your phone, the small
amount of data we may hold off your device, and how to have the off-device data removed.
How to request deletion
Email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my data.” So we can find and remove your records, please include:
- The email address you used for the waitlist or feedback (if any), and
- A short note of what you'd like removed (e.g. “my waitlist signup,” “my feedback”).
We delete the off-device data we hold within 30 days of a verified request and reply to confirm. There is no account to log into — SlabShot has no accounts.
Your on-device data — you control it directly
Your trips, catches, photos and videos, your self-declared date of birth, and your settings are stored only on your phone and are never sent to us. You don't need to ask us to delete them:
- Uninstalling the app deletes all of SlabShot's on-device data immediately.
- In the app you can delete an individual catch or trip, or use Trips → Clear all to remove every trip at once.
- Your photos and videos stay in your own device library — SlabShot only references them and never uploads them; deleting the app does not touch your camera roll.
Off-device data we may hold, and what a request deletes
SlabShot is offline-first; the only data that can leave your device is listed below. A deletion request to the address above removes the items marked Deleted on request.
| Data | When it's created | What it contains | On request |
|---|---|---|---|
| Waitlist signup | Only if you sign up on our website. | Your email, an optional “tester” flag, the date, a country derived from your IP, and your browser's user-agent string. | Deleted on request. |
| Feedback | Only if you send feedback (in the app or on the site). | Your message, an optional email, an optional “tester” flag, the app version, a device string (e.g. “Android 14 / Samsung SM-S918”), the date, and IP-derived country. | Deleted on request. |
| Crash & ANR diagnostics | Automatically if the app crashes or freezes. | A stack trace, app version, device model, OS version, and screen-name breadcrumbs. No user identifier, IP, location, photo paths, or catch data — it carries nothing that identifies you. | Anonymous, so it can't be tied to a person to single out. It is retained by our processor (Sentry) under their standard retention and then aged out. |
| Opt-in trip/diagnostic sharing | Only if you turn it on (adults only) and tap send. | We do not run a server that collects this. Turning it on lets you send a county-level (no exact coordinates) contribution to us via your phone's own share/email. If you emailed one to us, it sits in that mailbox like any email. | Email the address above to have any contribution you sent us deleted. |
Children & teens
SlabShot is for ages 13+ and blocks under-13 at first launch, so it does not knowingly hold any data from a child under 13. A self-declared birthdate is stored only on the device and never sent to us. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 reached our waitlist or feedback form, email [email protected] — the same channel — and we will delete it.
